The power of music and evangelization
The MUSIC FOR MISSION retreat hopes to provide a deep and powerful experience of working together as a retreat community to grow in our knowledge of music and its role in our call to evangelize and inspire.
The double goal of this retreat
Musical Leadership
We hope to provide the participants with principles and tools that will aid them in musical leadership within the Catholic world, principally through:
Principles of music in Catholic evangelization (from Church documents, tradition, etc.)
Criteria of music within the liturgy
How to lead prayer and liturgies through music
Musical Creativity
We will also provide formation and collaboration moments to learn and experience different aspects of musical creativity:
Learning basic principles of songwriting
Experience working with others on musical projects (songwriting, singing together, etc.) through small collab groups
Testimonies from different Catholic songwriters and musicians
All of this will be done in an atmosphere of prayer and community
The overall dynamic of this retreat will be done with this goal of experiencing and learning musical principles and tools through deep moments of formation and prayer as a retreat community.
